Hello there. Imagine a scenario: it’s an ordinary day in your life when suddenly the zombie apocalypse starts. Perhaps it’s a virus, an airborne sickness, who knows. The world as you know it descends into chaos before your eyes while walking corpses roam the streets and attack everyone on sight, spreading the disease. You are going to have to fight for your survival if you don’t want to die or join the undead hordes. What are your odds, do you think? Can you survive an impending zombie apocalypse? Our quiz will answer that question for you.

If you’re a fan of The Walking Dead or George Romero’s movies, you’ve probably wondered at some point how well would you do in a zombie-ridden world. Heck, even if you’re not a fan, you might’ve thought about it at some point. Zombies are such a staple in our pop culture after all, and it’s just fun to think about what would you do if they suddenly became real.

How do you survive the zombie apocalypse? To begin with, it might be worth it to try and stay at home. Sure, when all hell breaks loose, the first instinct is probably to take off to find safety. However, you could try and shelter in your place for as long as it’s possible. That requires planning and preparing beforehand, enforcing and hardening your home, and gathering supplies. If you do it right, in an event of some kind of catastrophe you could hide out in your house for a long time. Hardcore preppers could do it forever, at least theoretically. Think about it for a moment: if you had to lock yourself in your house right now, with no electricity, gas, water, or communication with the outside world, how long could you hold on? Perhaps it’s the time to joke that the pandemic prepared us for that a little bit.

We mentioned supplies above. To survive, you will need to have something to drink and something to eat (obviously). You will need to take care of your health and basic hygiene. What happens when electricity is gone, but you still need some light? What if you want to cook something, but there’s no gas anymore? You’ll need some basic supplies to remedy those situations and many others. While the apocalypse is no time to go shopping for clothes, you will need something to put on your back. Some warm clothes, blankets, and similar things too when it gets cold.

So, what supplies do you need? First of all, water – for drinking, cooking, cleaning yourself. You should consider where are you going to store your water, and if you have any ability to capture and store it. You will need approximately one gallon of water per person per day.

Then, food – try to stock up on          non-perishable items. Perhaps it will be possible to grow your food. Some plants can grow even on your windowsill. The apocalypse could be the time when gardening skills come in handy!

You will need a first aid kit and medicine – both prescription and over-the-counter meds. Try to stock up on those when there’s still time. After all, I imagine your doctor might not be in to write you a prescription when zombies start roaming about! Take care of hygiene supplies too. When there’s no running water, you will be thankful you still have those wet wipes at least. Soap, towels, and perhaps some bleach for necessary cleaning will be good too.

You will also need things like a utility knife, duct tape, battery-powered radio, waterproof matches, a flashlight, and others. You should pack those basic – but very needed – supplies in one bag, so in case you need to leave in a hurry you can just grab the bag and go.

You should have a change of clothes for each family member and some blankets, maybe sleeping bags too. You can put those things in your “grab and go” bag, so at least you can stay warm on the run.

Keep your important documents (ID, driver’s license, passport, birth certificate) safe. You might think it’s the last thing you need when a rotting corpse attacks you, and you are right. However, we’re assuming the survivors are going to try and rebuild society somehow, at some point.

It doesn’t matter if you have all the supplies in the world though if you don’t have the skills to use them. Knowing how to clean a wound can be a precious skill during the apocalypse times. If you haven’t taken a first aid course, it might be time to do so. This is good to know even if there are no zombies around. You could save someone’s life one day!

Knowing how to navigate through a dangerous world without Google Maps is essential too, so learn how to read traditional maps. Do you know how to start a fire, build a shelter, or how tell edible plants from poisonous ones? Remember, zombies aren’t the only thing that could kill you – exposure is another.

What do you think, can you survive the zombie apocalypse? Or are you going to get bitten immediately? Be a brave survivor and take the quiz to find out!
