The Barça football team’s victories include five Champions League titles, 26 Spanish championships, three World Club Championships, 31 Cups, four Cup Winners’ Cups, five European Super Cups, and thirteen Spanish Super Cups.

Millions of FC Barcelona supporters worldwide, some of whom are connected to around 1,270 official penyes, are owned by the club’s 143,086 socis (fan clubs). The club possesses the following facilities, among others: the Camp Nou and Estadi Johan Cruyff stadiums, the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training facility, the La Masia football academy, and the Palau Blaugrana sports arena.

The professional divisions of futsal, basketball, handball, roller hockey, and other sports are also managed by Barça in addition to the football division. Along with its main soccer team, Catalonia Pride also fields amateur divisions, youth teams, and teams. Along with Athletic Bilbao and Real Madrid, it is one of only three teams that has competed in Spain’s top men’s league from the Primera División’s inception in 1929.

FC Barcelona Crests

The club’s coat of arms is fashioned like a pitcher, which was common in 16th-century Europe. The shield is divided into three parts: the bottom field features a ball against a backdrop of four navy blue and three maroon stripes, the club colors, while the two higher fields have the cross of Saint George and the colors of Catalonia, which are references to the symbol of Barcelona. A yellow line with the letters of the club FCB divides the top and lower fields.

The design of the shield is mentioned in three legends. According to the first, Joan Gamper was based on Swiss club coats of arms. The cartouche artwork was donated by an anonymous fan in the second edition, which describes a fan-organized tournament. According to the third, the early club members and the founders collaborated to create the coat of arms look, although Gamper came up with the design for the shield.

The Barcelona emblem with a crown and a bat was used in its first form. A few years later, a rectangular, two-part navy blue and yellow field was embellished with an oak and palm wreath of renown, which was eventually encircled by a circular border with the club’s name and the year it was founded.

Changes of ’90

It was decided to update the club’s coat of arms and create something entirely new after Joan Gamper saved the organization from financial difficulties in 1908. The club’s followers were invited to submit their ideas for a new coat of arms in a competition. Carles Comamala, a player for Barcelona from 1903 to 1912 who also studied medicine and was an artist, came up with the winning proposal. Comamala offered the following interpretation of the coat of arms: a vase-shaped object with the Catalan flag and the cross of Saint George, the region’s patron saint, in the two top fields.

The club’s initials are engraved on a horizontal golden strip that runs across the center of the coat of arms. A ball is in the center of a maroon-navy blue field in the lower portion. The form of coat of arms that has persisted to this day demonstrates adherence to the city and country as well as respect for football traditions. There have only been aesthetic changes since the 1910 coat of arms modification.

The wings’ design was altered in 1936, and the visible initials’ belt color was changed from white to black. The separating yellow stripes are no longer present. A new ball that resembles the one used in Primera División is also present. The logo received yet another change as a result of pressure from the Frankist administration after the Spanish Civil War was concluded. There are no longer two of the four stripes that make up the region’s flag. The club’s new, more Spanish-sounding name, C.F.B., was printed on the belt, which was now yellow instead of black.

Final Changes

The display of the club’s coat of arms during the centennial celebration
The wings’ placement was revised in 1946, and a de was added to the monogram along with an updated white backdrop. The ball is now red instead of its previous hue.

However, the preposition de was removed and the strip’s backdrop was changed to yellow fourteen years later. The previous letters on a white backdrop were reinstated for the club’s seventieth anniversary. The wings’ appearance has been somewhat altered.

In 1975, a new color for the belt was introduced: yellow. For the first time, this belt was attached to the yellow border.

Claret Serrahim gave her final approval to the document on August 28, 2002. The monogram’s dots have been deleted, and the number of ends on the wings has been decreased to one; it now reads FCB. The ball at the bottom of the coat of arms likewise turned golden.
