Hello everyone! This time we are taking you back to a world that is certainly familiar: the world of Harry Potter! I am sure you wondered in the past, which Hogwarts house did you belong to? Now you will be able to find out for sure. Today’s quiz is like The Sorting Hat. This quiz will decide where is your rightful place in the magical world!
Harry Potter is a character that does not need an introduction. He was brought into the world by Joanne Kathleen Rowling. The idea for the story is said to have come to her mind during a train journey in 1990. However, it was still some time before Joanne managed to get her first Harry Potter book published.
The first book in the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (or the Sorcerer’s Stone, as it is known in the USA), came out in 1997. The next books were: Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, and eventually Deathly Hallows.
The first book and subsequent parts of the cycle have found huge popularity, positive reviews, and became an international sensation. Kids and adults around the world have fallen in love with the stories of a young wizard and his friends. As of 2018, the Harry Potter books have sold more than 500 million copies worldwide. They have been translated into eighty languages. To this day, Harry is probably the most popular character in the young adult genre.
The original seven books have been adapted into an eight-part film series. The films had immense success, and the Harry Potter franchise has become one of the most profitable in the world.
Even though the Harry Potter series had ended, the Harry Potter universe is far from going away anytime soon. In 2016 the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie came out, being the first in the Fantastic Beasts series. The movie is a spin-off and a prequel to the Harry Potter film series. It was inspired by the book of the same name written by Rowling. The next movie in the series was released in 2018. It was called Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. The third one is supposed to come out this year, with the last two in the series currently in development. As you can see, the wizarding world continues to grow in strength.
One of the most crucial aspects of the Harry Potter books was the Hogwarts Houses. If you’re a loyal fan, you know that the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was divided into four Houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. The Houses were founded respectively by Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin.
Each House had its dormitories, its table in the Great Hall, and the members of the House usually shared the same classes. While socializing between Houses was not forbidden, each House was its separate entity, and the members were mainly mingling with each other. There was a fair amount of rivalry between the Houses, and it was not always friendly.
The House of Gryffindor valued bravery, chivalry, daring, and determination. Its colors were scarlet and gold, and its emblematic animal was the lion. The House item was the Sword of Gryffindor. This House corresponded to the Fire element. Famous members of the House were Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Minerva McGonagall, and Albus Dumbledore.
The House of Hufflepuff appreciated kindness, generosity, patience, and hard work. The House colors were yellow and black, and the emblematic animal was the badger. The House item was Helga Hufflepuff’s cup. Hufflepuff corresponded to the element of Earth. Famous members of the House were Nymphadora Tonks, Cedric Diggory, and Pomona Sprout.
The House of Ravenclaw valued intelligence, knowledge, curiosity, and creativity. Its colors were blue and bronze, and the emblematic animal was the eagle. The House item was The Diadem of Ravenclaw. This House corresponded to the Air element. Famous members of the House were Cho Chang, Luna Lovegood, Sybill Trelawney or Helena Ravenclaw
The House of Slytherin respected ambition, cunning, self-preservation, and inventiveness. The House colors were emerald green and silver, and its emblematic animal was the serpent. The House item was Slytherin Salazar’s locket. Slytherin corresponded to the element of Water. Famous members of the House were Tom Riddle, Severus Snape, Draco Malfoy, Dolores Umbridge, and Bellatrix Lestrange.
Now that you know a thing or two about the Hogwarts Houses, it is time to find out your placement. Is it Gryffindor, for the daring and brave? Slytherin for the cunning and ruthless? Is it Ravenclaw for the wise and quick-witted? Or maybe Hufflepuff for the hard-working and kind? Take the quiz now, and you will find out in no time.
