South Park – Legendary Sitcom

American sitcom South Park makes us laugh and realize many absurdities of the modern world since its debut on Comedy Central on August 13, 1997. Plot

The sitcom is set in South Park – a fictional Colorado town – and mainly revolves around four grade-school boys – Kyle Broflovski, Stan Marsh, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick. The kids and their friends keep getting into all sorts of trouble and drama. There is no shortage of weirdness, absurdity, conspiracy theories, and exaggeration. The boys frequently find themselves at the center of attention, being the only way to solve problems of the local community.

South Park Characters

Today, we are focusing on four main characters which are the stars of the show – Cartman, Kyle, Kenny, and Stan. So what kind of people are they?

There are numerous characters in the show. Apart from our favorite kids, the sitcom shows the ridiculous lives of their relatives, neighbors, friends, and teachers. There are even such unusual characters like crab people, aliens, otters, giant guinea pigs, and a towel! What makes South Park such a blast to watch is the huge variety of weirdos and unhinged people with crazy ideas who, sooner or later, must be dealt with by the South Park grade-schoolers.

Eric Cartman

Eric Theodore Cartman is an obese, narcissistic kid known for his enterpreneur mind and a knack for exploiting others for his benefit. He is the mastermind behind many mischieves and elaborate plans to make a huge profit or to get rid of people he despises. Because of that, Cartman is seen as an antagonist of the show. Eric lives with his mom – Liane Cartamn – who he often manipulates to cater to all his needs. Cartman loses patience very fast and when that happens you don’t want to be on bad terms with him. All kinds of bad stuff happens to those who get under his skin. Cartman hates school, gingers, teenagers, Jews, and being ignored.

Kenny McCormic

Kenny is the poorest kid in school. Because of that, he often is an object of ridicule to Cartman. He is most known for dying in almost each episode in the first five seasons and orange parka which covers his face and makes all of what he says an incomprehensible mumbling. Veterans of the show, however, claim to understand everything he utters. Are you a fan of Kenny? If so, then you probably are highly perverted but also very intelligent. Stan Marsh

Stan Marsh is often seen as the most normal kid out of the four South Park protagonists. He considers himself a regular and average person. This makes him the most relatable character in the series. He has many positive traits such as kindness, empathy, and even heroism. Stan is also a huge animal lover who engages in animal rescue whenever he gets a chance. Matt Stone and Trey Parker portray him as a kid facing many challenges related to growing up and entering adulthood. Despite Stan’s eagerness to improve, he often gets tired by life’s problems and gives up. Nevertheless, he tries to do his best to live a normal life in the dysfunctional city of South Park. He is also the best friend of Kyle and has a crush on Wendy Testaburger.

Kyle Broflovski

Based on one of the South Park creators – Matt Stone –  Kyle Broflovski is a very easily recognizable character in the show. Thanks to his unique design – a green ushanka and an orange coat – even those who never watched the show can immediately associate him with South Park. But this goes even further. Fans of the show know what happens when Kyle takes off the cap – a storm of red hair suddenly pops up, surprising anyone who sees that for the first time. Kyle is a smart kid, always trying to solve problems with words instead of violence. He is wise and very talkative. He also performs very well as a leader whenever something bad is brewing in South Park. His friends look up to him and value his advice.
