Am I dumb or smart? Am I dumb for my age? Am I dumb or just lazy? These are some of the most common questions that we ask ourselves on a daily basis. If you’re still uncertain about the answers, give our quiz a go and find out for sure…

Worried about the way people perceive you? Try this test to find out even more about the topic!

Low self-esteem may successfully stop you from fulfilling your true potential. After all, it’s not about the real abilities of your brain, it’s about your mindset. People are likely to bring you down and lower your self-confidence, but it’s your job not to let them!

Why am I dumb?

There are several reasons one may consider themselves stupid or dumb. Some of them may be valid but most of them are completely unjustified.

Here are some of the most probable reasons:

  • You surround yourself with people, who criticise you.
  • You force yourself to be good at something you hate.
  • You put way too much pressure on yourself.
  • Your friends are very smart.
  • Your self-esteem is very low.

If it’s about the people, who are constantly not satisfied with your performance, or you in general, you just need to let them go… Hanging out with a certain crown is simply not worth feeling down all the time. Even if your friends happen to be way smarter than you are, they should never let you feel that, and take it personally. If you value this friendship, it may be good to speak to them first, and find out what their motives are. If they are not that important to you, just give up.

Try finding some new friends, who will simply appreciate you for who you are. You should never have to choose between approval and peace of mind. Remember that, when your new crowd starts treating you poorly.

It’s no secret that everyone is different. Some of us happen to be very clever, but it’s not the case for everyone. Your intelligence does not define you. Despite of not being the smartest person in the room, you can always find other things you’re good at.

What are you really good at? Find out here.

It may be also true that your “why am I so dumb and useless” question comes from forcing yourself to be good at something that’s simply not your cup of tea. In that case, you’re not really doing yourself a favour here. You cannot force a fish to climb a tree… And analogically, it might be the case for you. If English is not your favourite subject, quit trying to be the best. Don’t feel sad about not succeeding in everything.

Try something you like instead. This step is strongly connected to finding yourself a new group of friends. It’s very likely that if you’re forcing interests upon yourself, you’re also hanging out with the wrong crowd. The Chess Team might not be the best company for you, if you simply suck at chess…

Work on your self-esteem…

It’s crucial to work on your self-confidence. It should come from within you! Don’t listen to people, who try to put you down no matter what you do. It really doesn’t matter. In 20 years, you won’t even remember them.

Here are some ways to work on your confidence:

  • Try a new hobby.
  • Reflect on the things you enjoy doing.
  • Stop procrastinating.
  • Take care of your body and mind.
  • Do your best.

Instead of beating yourself up with your favourite “am I dumb” question, act! Get out of your comfort zone, and try some new things.

The easiest way to find something you enjoy doing is to simply reflect on your previous years. I don’t know if it’s true for you, but it’s very likely for people to lose interest in some things during their lives. It mostly happens during puberty… You want to impress your new friends, and totally separate your new self form the person you’re becoming now.

I am not the one to tell you that giving up on the things you once loves is kinda dumb… After some time, you’re likely to discover it yourself. Here’s what you can do: go back! Contact your old team, or your old teachers, and coaches. Don’t feel bad for making this mistake! We’ve all done it at some point on our lives!

It may be also possible that the “am I dumb” thoughts come from your body feeling out of shape… I’m sure you know what actions you should take to get your body back on track. Healthy body means healthy brains. Exercising is one thing, but many scientists say that it’s our diet that’s more important.

Here’s a list of things you can eat to sharpen your brain functions:

  • Nuts.
  • Healthy fats.
  • Fruits.
  • Vegetables.

Remember, you’re okay!

If everything fails, there’s always your mindset, that we talked about in the beginning…

It all starts in our brains. Am I dumb? Am I not? The “real” answer doesn’t really matter. What matters is the answer you make up for yourself in your brain. Try adopting a positive mindset.

Don’t think bad of yourself. If you do, it will be easier for others to see the worst in you too. They can feel that you’re insecure, and some people crave just that. Why should you give them the satisfaction? Work on your positivity behind the closed doors, and when you’re ready show everyone how good you’re feeling in your new persona.

Remember that this test is just for fun. The questions here are short, and very random. You cannot base your whole self-worth, and intelligence on this quiz. We’re here to have fun!
