But we also have Rare W, which means that a person, group, situation or thing is usually disagreeable to people, often doing things that people or the person using the statement do not approve of. Using L is exactly the same as using W. It can be both used in a sentence, as Common L or Rare L. It simply means the opposite of what W. But you’ll also often find the expression “Take an L,” which has become popular thanks to the game Fortnite.

Although the L from the word Loser has been in youth slang for a very long time. It is characterized by a finger gesture – the index finger and thumb are arranged in the letter L, the hand is usually applied to the forehead. You probably know it from TV series and movies.

Also, it can also be said that “Sometimes in life you get an L,” which means that sometimes in life you don’t work out, you have some problems or worse moments. On the other hand, Common L is used for people, groups, situations and things that mean something that the person disagrees with or doesn’t like, and this time also let them down. And we also have Rare L, which refers to, for example, a person whose opinions are generally accurate, but this time they failed.

Where did this trend come from?

You’re probably wondering when it all started and what led people to use abbreviations like W and L extensively. Unfortunately, it must be admitted that it was started by a very problematic person and a very problematic group of people, fanatics.

So, it started when a certain man Andrew Tate began to attract people’s attention. Surely you have already met this person. So let’s forget about this cruel man and move on to the better sides of this trend. After all, it wasn’t Tate fans who first invented the phrase, they just started using it again, but the expression L and W was a forgotten slang.
