Lacoste’s croc
As the story goes, the brand’s founder and tennis player René Lacoste was promised a crocodile skin suitcase by the French Davis Cup team’s captain if he won the match. Lacoste didn’t get that suitcase, but his determination and fierceness on the tennis court earned him the nickname “the Crocodile.” Later, he made the green croc the symbol of his apparel brand.

Their logo is a modified rendition of Hokusai’s famous woodcut, “The Great Wave Off Kanagawa,” depicting a massive wave with Mount Fiji in the background.
