Beyoncé was born in Houston, Texas, on September 4, 1981. She is a singer and actress, although she is primarily known for her work as a singer. She loved performing from a young age, and in the 1990s, she became well known as the lead singer in the girl group Destiny’s Child. The band went on to become one of the best-selling girl groups in the world of all time, but during a hiatus, Beyoncé decided to have a go at going solo, resulting in her first solo album. Dangerously in Love was released back in 2003, and it included some of her best hits to this day, including Baby Boy and Crazy in Love.
Destiny’s Child split up in 2006, and Beyonce went on to release her second solo album, which was called B’Day. It contained smash hits such as Beautiful Liar and Irreplaceable and cemented her place as one of the top female singers of this time. During this time, Beyoncé also went ahead with starting her acting career. In 2016, she starred in The Pink Panther and Dreamgirls, and then later on, she appeared in Obsessed and The Lion King. Her third album came out in 2008, named I Am… Sasha Fierce. This was influenced by her work in Cadillac Resources, where she played Etta James, and her marriage around this time to Jay-Z. The album contained the popular songs If I Were a Boy, Halo, and Single Ladies. At this time, she was awarded six Grammy Awards in 2010, which was a new record for a female singer.
At the beginning of her career, her father, Matthew Knowles, was her manager, but they went their separate ways in 2010. Beyoncé then went on to launch her fourth album the next year, entitled 4. It was a more musically diverse album, which then paved the way for Beyoncé in 2013 and Lemonade in 2016. She continued to set records throughout her career and collaborated with other top artists from around the world. She explores different themes in her music, such as womanism, infidelity, and love. She has recently released a musical film named Black Is King, which was also well received by fans and critics.
Beyoncé has been one of the best-selling recording artists of the past two decades. She has sold more than 118 million records around the world and was the first artist to debut at number one with all six of her first alums on the Billboard 200. She has won a record-breaking 28 Grammy Awards in her career and 26 MTV Video Music Awards.
